The Kentucky Opera has been a valued partner for many years.
This engineering design-build was a modern take on an original opera that required us to execute a more deconstructed set that still elicited the unmistakable feeling of being in a dilapidated old shack in the middle of a desolate swamp, including a few minor catches: zero right angles, no solid walls or roof, and no visible jacking mechanisms for stability and safety. We met this challenge and delivered a set that was loved by the client down to the fine details.
Every single element of the final version you see here was built right here by us, down to the swamp grass and mailbox – and we loved every minute of it.
As Director of Production for Kentucky Opera (2015 – 2019) I relied on Ben to construct scenery for several of our productions. This entailed a variety of activities including working closely with our Scenic Designers to successfully realize all of the elements of the design. Sometimes the sets were relatively simple and other times quite complex.
